Current tuition fees for EU and non-EU students.
Bachelor's and master's regular programmes taught in English have a tuition fee for non-EU/EEA citizens. There are no fees for doctoral programmes. The tuition fee ranges from €12 000 to €15 000 per academic year depending on the programme (2024). The tuition fees are subject to change for 2025. The tuition fee is €12 000 in bachelor's programmes and €15 000 in master's programmes per academic year (2024). Joint degree programmes should have a fee as close to these amounts as possible.Fees related to examinations, re-examinations, or issuing the degree certificate, not being part of the tuition fee.
None.Other compulsory fees that are not connected to the studies (e.g. insurance, student union fees).
Compulsory student union fee: All students undertaking lower (bachelor’s degree) or higher (master’s degree, master of science in technology, architect, landscape architect) university degrees at Aalto University are members of Aalto University Student Union (AYY). The membership fee must be paid in order to enrol as an attending degree student. €63 / academic year. https://www.ayy.fi/en/membership-and-student-card/membership-fee Starting in January 2021, students in universities of applied sciences and universities who are entitled to use the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS, Finnish abbreviation YTHS) must pay a healthcare fee to Kela. EUR 35.80 per term. https://www.kela.fi/healthcare-fee-for-students-in-higher-educationFees for extra semester(s), should the student not complete the programme within the stipulated time.
Regular programmes: Fee-paying students and students with Aalto tuition fee waiver who do not succeed in finishing their studies within the normative duration (three years in bachelor education and two years in master education) may have their tuition fee waived for one (1) supplementary semester to complete the studies. This is on the condition that the student’s studies have progressed and that a feasible plan has been drawn and approved by the School in question for the remaining semester. For JPs: the fee policy is to be defined in consortium agreement.Under which circumstances can paid tuition fees be refunded to the student?
You have a right to full refund (excluding possible bank-specific payment charges) of tuition fee paid to Aalto University: * if you have been conditionally admitted but do not graduate on time and your study place is thus cancelled, * if you are not granted a residence permit in Finland, * if your residence permit status changes before enrolment to the university and you are no longer required to pay fees (copy of residence permit in Finland must be submitted before the end of enrolment period), * if Aalto University is unable to offer the degree programme you have been admitted to You may have a right to partial refund (excluding possible bank-specific payment charges) of the tuition fee paid to the university if your residence permit status changes during your studies and you are no longer required to pay fees. You must provide a Finnish residence permit as proof for university’s decision-making. When a change in fee status is made during an ongoing semester, reimbursement of the tuition fee for that semester is, as a rule, not possible but fee will be reimbursed for the upcoming semester.New Dec 2023 1. If students are already receiving an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, they are not eligible for additional EU-funded scholarships or any other scholarships (such as the Edisu scholarship - funded by a regional entity - mobility grants for thesis projects, or other mobility projects). However, students may still benefit from reduced rates at the Edisu canteen. Edisu is a regional organization aimed at implementing initiatives for deserving students through services and activities designed to facilitate their studies, attendance, and university life, thereby mitigating economic inequalities.Comments for modifications /Updates

Reasons for Reimbursement 1. The tuition fee has been paid, but a waiver circumstance (see above - points 1 - 10) has been fulfilled resp. the tuition fee has been waived due to this. 2. Too much has been paid, the overpayment will be refunded. 3. Incomplete or late payment, insofar as this resulted in no registration for the continuation in the semester in question. 4. The student is exclusively required to pay tuition fees at TU Graz, has paid the required tuition fees, but loses the status of a student required to pay tuition fees before the end of the continuation period of the semester in question (31 October for the winter semester or 31 March for the summer semester) due to: 4.1. a degree which, due to the continued effect of the continuation notification of the previous semester, would have been possible even without payment of fees for the current semester. 4.2. a discontinuation of studies, provided the student was registered for continuation in the immediately preceding semester. 4.3. a drop-out, provided that the student has not yet taken any examinations in the semester in question and has not submitted any academic work for assessment. https://www.tugraz.at/en/studying-and-teaching/studying-at-tu-graz/prospective-students/financial-matters/tuition-fees-and-the-austrian-student-union-feeNew Dec 2023 1. IST Suggestion: add a column also about participation costs/institutional costs The participation costs must cover the total value of the tuition fee legally applied at the institutions. No exceptions will be allowed. IST participation costs may vary depending on the financing programme. Mandatory tuition fees: EU students: 2500 € Non-EU students: 7000 €Fees related to examinations, re-examinations, or issuing the degree certificate, not being part of the tuition fee.
IST Examinations: included in fee Re-examinations (special season): 20 €/ Curricular Unit Emoluments (Diplomas, Detailed corticates etc): 400 € Portuguese Course: 170 € Compulsory Administrative Student Support Fees: EU students: 1000 € Non-EU students: 1500 €Other compulsory fees that are not connected to the studies (e.g. insurance, student union fees).

IST In the case of multiple degree: Tuition fees are applicable per year and not per semester. Depending on the number of ECTS the student might be entitled to a partial reduction on the yearly tuition fee. In the case of joint degrees: no example yet at IST. It is better to assume the most conservative perspective (the same as in multiple degrees – see above).Under which circumstances can paid tuition fees be refunded to the student?
IST The students may request a refund in the event of incorrect payments or overpayments for the same event and in various duly justified and authorised situations by the Management Board. For instance, for scholarship students who pay some tuition fees, if we later receive a payment from an organisation for their tuition; in case of cancellation of enrolment requested by 31 October, we refund payments made up to that date for the administrative fee, school insurance, and tuition fees; refund of pre-reservation fees for international students who are unable to obtain a visa to study in Portugal. For students admitted within the framework of a Joint Programme, it may depend on the negotiation among partners. It may be possible to request annulment/withdrawal of enrolment/registration in the programme, which may or not require payment of a partial amount if submitted within the specified deadlines; if submitted after the final deadline, the student (or the programme in his place) must pay the full participation cost for the current academic year and any fees already due at the date of the request.New Dec 2023 1. IST 1.It is possible for self-paid students. It is mandatory to guarantee no duplication of European funding. 2. Again, once ensured the non-duplication of European funding, it is possible to sign learning agreements, provided that the competent services have been duly notified. The internal procedure may have some constraints, as the computer system supporting student enrolment distinguishes between Joint Programme students and Erasmus students.Comments for modifications /Updates

Tuition fees based on the number of times a subject has been enrolledUnder which circumstances can paid tuition fees be refunded to the student?
Students have the right to a refund of fees if: 1. The course is not taught 2. The Ministry grants a state scholarship after the student has paid the tuition fee 3. Exceptionally, a cancellation of registration is granted due to unforeseen circumstances in the student (illness, accident...) that have not allowed them to attend the course for at least one month. 4. 1. We are changing the internal procedures and information systems of the University to grant mobility aid to students who carry out joint international programs as long as they are not beneficiaries of European aid that finances them for the same component. 2. If the joint program or double degree agreement does not already establish from the beginning the subjects to be taken and recognized, it is established that an individual learning agreement must be signed for each student.Comments for modifications /Updates
